About Bayberry Clinic

Bayberry: Private Residential Rehab for Addiction and Mental Health in Warwickshire

Bespoke Treatment Programmes | One-to-One Programmes | Luxury Rehab Setting | Mental Health Support | Free Aftercare

Who Is Bayberry For?

Bayberry is a private residential clinic in the Warwickshire countryside, built around two genuinely different ways of receiving treatment rather than one format applied to everyone. Prospective clients, guided by the admissions team, choose between an entirely one-to-one experience at Bayberry Manor, a Grade II listed manor house accommodating no more than four clients at any time, or a structured, group-based programme at Bayberry Cottages, where no more than two clients share each of four cottages arranged around a private courtyard garden. Both settings are staffed by the same clinical team and held to the same standard of medical and therapeutic care.

Bayberry has been operating for more than fourteen years. In that time it has been trusted by the NHS to provide treatment for healthcare professionals, and its fees are recognised by private medical insurers including Bupa, AXA and Cigna. It is part of the UKAT Group, one of the UK's established addiction and mental health treatment networks.

Bayberry supports adults aged 18 and over experiencing alcohol and drug addiction, dependency on prescription or over-the-counter medication, behavioural addictions, and co-occurring mental health conditions. A central part of its identity is that mental health is not treated as an afterthought once addiction has stabilised; assessment and treatment planning address both from the outset.

The Manor sits around thirty minutes from Birmingham International Airport and is well connected to the national rail network, with chauffeur transfer to and from any mainland UK location included in the programme fee. This makes Bayberry well placed to receive clients travelling from outside the immediate area, including from overseas, without the logistics of reaching a rural clinic becoming a barrier to starting treatment.

What Does Bayberry Treat?

Alcohol. Bayberry supports people through the full arc of alcohol dependency, from medically supervised detox where this is clinically needed, through to the individual therapy and longer-term planning that follows it.

Drugs. From cannabis and cocaine through to heroin, ketamine and crystal methamphetamine, each treatment plan is built around the particular substance, pattern and history involved, rather than one approach applied to every dependency.

Prescription and over-the-counter medicines. Dependency on benzodiazepines, opioids, sleep aids such as zaleplon, zolpidem and zopiclone, and stimulant medication receives the same level of medical oversight as dependency on illicit substances.

Behaviours, not only substances. Gambling, pornography and sex and love addiction sit alongside gaming, shopping, internet use and food-related compulsions as part of what Bayberry treats, reflecting the reality that addiction does not always involve a substance.

Mental health. Anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, stress and burnout, OCD,  mood disorders and many more conditions can be treated and addressed.

Suitability. Where a client has a mental health condition that has already been professionally diagnosed and is currently stable on medication, this is usually accommodated and assessed on an individual basis at referral. More complex or less stable presentations are considered case by case during the initial clinical assessment.

What Therapies Are Available?

Both settings draw on evidence-based individual work, with group therapy added at the Cottages, tailored to the specific combination of difficulties each person presents with. In the Manor Programme, therapy is delivered entirely one-to-one: three hours every weekday, fifteen hours a week in total, delivered by therapists qualified to at least Masters degree level. In the Cottage Group Plus Programme, treatment is built around a structured weekday timetable of group therapy sessions, supported by three individual sessions each week and one weekly fitness or planning session.

Depending on the individual treatment plan, this may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), working with the thought patterns and trigger-response cycles that sustain addictive behaviour
  • Rewind Therapy, a structured, evidence-informed approach to processing trauma where this sits alongside or underlies the addiction
  • The 12-Step model, for clients for whom a peer-supported, abstinence-focused framework is a good fit
  • Mood management work, supporting emotional regulation during the more vulnerable early stages of recovery
  • Family therapy, built into a client's individual sessions where appropriate

Clients may also take part in complementary activities, including mindfulness practice and creative workshops, supporting emotional expression and wellbeing alongside the core therapeutic programme. Where clinically indicated, psychiatric input is available alongside the psychotherapy programme to support the mental health dimension of a client's presentation.

When Can I Start Treatment, and How Long Will I Stay?

Every admission begins with a full clinical assessment carried out by a doctor or psychiatrist, usually before the client's first overnight stay. This covers medical history, current physical and psychological health, and the specific nature of the dependency, and it forms the basis of the treatment plan, along with any required medication or detox support, put in place from day one.

Primary treatment is typically structured as a 28-day programme, available as a group-only, group-plus-individual, or fully one-to-one format depending on the setting chosen, with clients able to extend their stay on a weekly basis if needed. There is no fixed maximum length of stay. Clients have stayed at Bayberry for as little as two weeks and as long as several months, and a programme can be paused partway through, with the remaining time held open for return within twelve months.

Admissions run seven days a week. Monday to Thursday is the usual preference, allowing clients time to settle into the therapeutic programme before the weekend, though admission on any day is possible subject to assessment. In many cases, admission can be arranged the same day or the following day.

Where Is Bayberry Located, and What Facilities Are Available?

Bayberry operates from two settings in the Warwickshire countryside, with twelve residential beds in total.

Bayberry Manor is a Grade II listed, seventeenth-century manor house set within private landscaped grounds, with four individually furnished en-suite bedrooms, each with garden or countryside views and hotel-quality linens. Meals are prepared to order by a resident chef and served wherever and whenever suits the client, with food available throughout the day.

Bayberry Cottages are arranged around a private courtyard garden with its own lawns and orchard, with four cottages each accommodating no more than two clients. Lunches and dinners are chef-prepared daily, and an on-site coffee house opens each afternoon for informal social time.

Our facilities include:

  • En-suite and private bedrooms across both settings
  • Daily housekeeping, laundry and ironing at the Manor
  • Communal lounges and private therapy rooms, available outside sessions for quiet retreat or private meetings
  • Extensive private gardens at the Manor, and a courtyard garden with lawns and an orchard at the Cottages
  • Unlimited access to a local private club, including a pool, gym, sauna, steam room and spa, with a full-time personal trainer for Manor clients
  • A weekly offsite visit to a pool, spa or gym facility for Cottage clients, once any initial detox is complete
  • Chauffeur transfer included for all Manor admissions and discharges
  • Car parking for staff and visitors

Smoking is permitted in a designated outdoor area, and phones and other devices are allowed throughout the stay, though photography, filming or recording is not. Bayberry's buildings are not currently set up for wheelchair access, which may be a relevant consideration for some prospective clients.

Why Choose Bayberry for Integrated Addiction and Mental Health Treatment?

Choosing the right residential setting matters, particularly where addiction and mental health difficulties are intertwined.

Small numbers, undivided attention

Numbers are kept deliberately small: four in the Manor, two per cottage. Attention is never divided, and nobody is lost in a larger, busier residential setting.

A qualified, transparent clinical team

Every therapist holds at least a Masters-level qualification, and credentials are published openly on the Bayberry website rather than left for clients to take on trust.

Mental health treated alongside addiction, not after it

For many people, addiction and mental health difficulties reinforce each other. Bayberry's programme addresses both from the first assessment, rather than treating mental health as a secondary concern once addiction has stabilised.

Built for professional, executive and international clients

Devices are permitted throughout treatment, private space can be arranged for business meetings, and therapy can work around essential commitments. With Birmingham International Airport around thirty minutes away and chauffeur transfer included to anywhere in mainland UK, Bayberry is also well placed for clients travelling from outside the immediate area, including from overseas.

Flexible by design

There is no fixed length of stay, programmes can be extended at any point, and treatment can be paused with the remaining time held open for return within twelve months if circumstances require it.

How Does Treatment at Bayberry Work?

Step 1: Confidential enquiry

No referral is required. A phone call or online enquiry starts the process, and anyone can get in touch, including family members or friends contacting Bayberry on someone else's behalf before that person is ready to seek help themselves.

Step 2: Initial assessment

The admissions team carries out a phone assessment, usually during the same call or shortly afterwards, to understand the situation and help identify whether the Manor or the Cottages is the more appropriate setting, based on clinical need, previous treatment experience and practical factors such as privacy requirements.

Step 3: Admission planning

Once a programme has been agreed, practical arrangements are made, including chauffeur transfer for Manor clients. Admission is available seven days a week and can often be arranged the same day or the following day, subject to clinical assessment and availability.

Step 4: Clinical assessment, and detox where required

On arrival, and before the first overnight stay, every client is seen by a doctor or psychiatrist. Medication is reviewed and any necessary detox protocols are established, with medical oversight throughout.

Step 5: Residential treatment

Therapy begins according to the chosen programme, either entirely one-to-one in the Manor or a structured combination of group and individual work in the Cottages, with the treatment plan adjusted as the person progresses.

Step 6: Discharge planning and aftercare

Before completing treatment, clients work with the clinical team on discharge planning. Those who would benefit from outpatient services can arrange that with us for continued therapy even after they leave.

How Are Families Supported?

Addiction rarely affects only the person experiencing it, and Bayberry's approach to family involvement reflects that.

Visiting is unlimited and flexible, provided it is pre-arranged with the team in advance. Family therapy can be included as part of a client's individual sessions where this supports their progress, for example a session involving a partner at the client's request. The Group Plus One-to-One programme also includes a dedicated family liaison service, helping relatives stay informed and involved within the boundaries the client is comfortable with.

Family members and loved ones are welcome to contact the admissions team directly, in complete confidence, even before the person they are concerned about is ready to seek help themselves.

How Much Does Treatment Cost, and How Can I Arrange Admission?

Getting started requires nothing more than a phone call or an online enquiry. Bayberry does not require a GP or professional referral, though these are equally welcome where they already exist.

Bayberry publishes three tiers of 28-day programme. The Group Programme is the most affordable option and includes a full clinical assessment, group therapy, mindfulness and wellness activities, accommodation and meals, and aftercare planning. The Group Plus One-to-One Programme adds weekly individual sessions, an enhanced therapy schedule, a family liaison service and extended aftercare support. The fully one-to-one Manor Programme is the most exclusive tier, with daily individual sessions, a bespoke daily programme, priority admission and a longer aftercare package.

Costs vary depending on the setting chosen, whether treatment is one-to-one or group-based, and the length of stay. The admissions team will confirm current fees and exactly what is included before any commitment is made, so there are no surprises once treatment begins.

Bayberry's fees are recognised by Bupa, AXA and Cigna for clients with private medical insurance, and the admissions team can advise on how a particular policy applies to a stay. Every admission remains subject to clinical suitability, assessed individually rather than assumed in advance.
