I recently had to undergo a mastectomy and reconstruction with Professor Mokbel following my breast cancer diagnosis and am delighted with the result . The surgery took place promptly and I have minimal scaring ( the smallest half moon shape under my nipple) , unbelievably ! The most surprising thing was the almost complete lack of pain after 24 hours bar a little discomfort and how incredibly my reconstructed breast matches with the other side . As well as his expertise and professionalism I found Professor Mokbel to be kind and empathetic and after my follow up appointments I have come away feeling reassured and informed. An all round positive experience which has helped no end during a difficult time coming to terms with the shock of breast cancer.

My experience with Mr Khan was very positive. I felt very comfortable and at ease from my very first appointment and I really felt he gave me as much time as I needed and explained everything to me with such care. My only difficulty in conveying my opinion of Kieran Power is finding the right words to express just how amazing a surgeon he is. This was after two previous reconstruction attempts had left me in a sorry state. I had been told it was in fact a “satisfactory result” because I could hide it in a bra (!) and there was not much else that could be done to help me. I was devastated and disfigured but my sister, a nurse, urged me to get a second opinion. From the moment I first met Kieran, I felt totally safe. He immediately reassured me that he could help me. His gentle manner is incredibly calming and I cannot express how much it meant to be treated with such kindness and respect after my previous experiences. This served to significantly reduce my anxieties from the start (and I had hitherto been treated for PTSD in connection with previous medical related traumatic experiences and my previous unsatisfactory cancer recon surgeries). I knew I was in safe hands and that this was a surgeon I could trust. His integrity and skill are outstanding. My surgery and recovery all went very well and I received wonderful care (Donna, his secretary, is just brilliant!). I have since shared photos of my recon with other breast cancer patients and they always say “wow, I want your surgeon!” I had just about given up even daring to hope that I might ever be able to feel vaguely happy about my body again after cancer but Kieran is a real life genius surgeon - I am eternally grateful to him. This Summer I pranced around in a bikini on the beach actually feeling confident I think!?!
