Dr. Virendra Misra

Dr. Virendra Kumar Misra is a distinguished non-interventional cardiologist with over 40 years of experience in internal medicine and cardiology. After completing his MBBS and MD in Medicine from BRD Medical College in India, he pursued further specialisation, obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Cardiology from Middlesex University in the UK. His expertise has been recognised globally, earning Fellowships from the American Heart Association, the Indian Society of Cardiology, the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiology, and the Gulf Heart Association.

Throughout his career, Dr. Misra has undergone extensive training in advanced cardiology techniques. He trained under renowned cardiologist Prof. Navin C. Nanda at the University of Alabama, USA, gaining expertise in transoesophageal echocardiography, 3D and 4D echocardiography, and stress echocardiography. His proficiency extends to cardiac CT imaging, completing comprehensive training with CT Academy, and he has worked under leading specialists in echocardiography, including Prof. Harald Becher at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Dr. Misra has a strong background in non-invasive cardiology, performing a wide range of diagnostic procedures, including adult and paediatric echocardiography, colour Doppler, contrast studies, stress echocardiography, cardiac CT, exercise ECG testing, Holter monitoring, and radio-nucleotide stress MIBI. His experience spans both clinical practice and academia, having served as a faculty member and core committee member of the Cardiology Fellowship Program at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Misra is an active researcher and has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications. He has played a key role in several high-profile international clinical trials, including the ISCHEMIA Trial and the RE-COVERY DVT/PE multi-centre study. He has also been involved in cardiovascular genetics research with UAE University in Al Ain.

Dr. Misra is a certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor with the American Heart Association and has been training medical professionals in life support and resuscitation for many years. His contributions to cardiology extend beyond his clinical practice, as he frequently lectures at international conferences and has held leadership roles in professional societies and hospital committees.

Currently, Dr. Misra serves as a Senior Cardiologist Specialist and Head of Department at Burjeel Day Surgery Centre in Abu Dhabi. His dedication to patient care, medical education, and research continues to make a lasting impact in the field of cardiology.

Dr. Misra is an expert in treating coronary artery diseases (CAD), heart attack, chest pains, heart failure, palpitations, cardiac arrythmias, hypertension, cardiomyopathies, and other critical heart-related issues.
