Dr Vinod Gauba

Dr. Vinod Gauba is an ophthalmologist with over 20 years of clinical experience, blending a strong family heritage in healthcare with extensive training and achievements in the field of ophthalmology. His family has been a cornerstone of the Dubai healthcare sector for over 30 years, with his father being one of the UAE's pioneering ophthalmologists.

Born and trained in the United Kingdom, Dr. Gauba earned his medical degree with honours from Guy's, King's, and St Thomas' School of Medicine in London. He completed seven years of specialised training in ophthalmology, during which he honed his expertise in various sub-specialties, including paediatric ophthalmology, retinal diseases, glaucoma, anterior segment surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and oculofacial surgery.

Dr. Gauba's career spans over 13 years in the UK before he joined the Imperial Healthcare team as the Medical Director in 2008. He has made significant contributions to the field, including the development of SupraLASIK™, an advanced vision correction treatment with a lifetime guarantee, and is recognised as one of the few super-specialists in oculofacial surgery, covering procedures such as blepharoplasty, brow lift, ptosis correction, and orbital surgery.

His accolades include the prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Gold Medal awarded at the House of Lords in 2014. Additionally, he received the Cleveland Clinic Clinician of the Year Award in 2013 and the Young Surgeon of the Year Award in 2012, both at the Arab Health Awards.

Dr. Gauba has published over 25 articles in leading international peer-reviewed journals and contributed to several book chapters. His extensive training includes fellowship programs in Oculofacial Surgery, Orbital and Lacrimal Surgery, with one at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, and advanced refractive surgery training from pioneers such as Professor Ioannis Pallikaris and Professor Michael O’Keeffe. Prior to returning to Dubai, he served as a consultant at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin.
