Dr Brian Mtemererwa

Dr Brian Mtemererwa is a Consultant Endocrinologist at NMC Royal Hospital Sharjah and Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital in Dubai. He earned his medical degree at the University of Zimbabwe in 1997 before relocating to the UK for specialist training. He received advanced training at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Northampton General Hospital, Walsall Manor Hospital, and University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and received his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from the General Medical Council (GMC), UK, in 2013.

Dr Mtemererwa was appointed as a Consultant Physician in Endocrinology and Acute Medicine, as well as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and Senior Clinical Examiner at the University of Birmingham Medical School in 2013. He later relocated to the UAE and was appointed as a consultant at Al Zahra Hospital in 2016.

Dr Mtemererwa has a subspecialty interest in disorders of puberty and development, fertility and reproductive endocrinology, antenatal diabetes care, and thyroid disorders. He is also skilled in managing acutely ill general medical patients and endocrine emergencies, electrolyte and bone metabolic disorders, diabetes care (including pump therapy and complications management), and pituitary and adrenal gland disorders.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Mtemererwa is a member of several professional organisations, including the European Society for Endocrinology, British Endocrine Society, British Thyroid Association, Association of British Clinical Diabetologists, and the UK Resuscitation Council, where he also serves as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Instructor.

Dr Mtemererwa has contributed to the development of clinical guidelines, presented at professional meetings, and published and peer-reviewed numerous journal articles.
