Dr Amit Kumar is a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with over 30 years of experience. He is based in Dubai and currently sees patients at Gargash Hospital, Medeor 24x7 Hospital and Health Baypolyclinic.
He completed his medical degree in New Delhi, India in 1994. He later completed his residency training in general surgery at the University of Rochester in New York, USA, followed by his fellowship training in vascular surgery at the renowned Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA. He became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2007 and is a Member of the Society for Vascular Surgery (USA). Dr Kumar is also a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation, certified by the Alliance for Physician Certification and Advancement.
Dr Kumar has specialist expertise in the endovascular treatment of diabetic feet, dialysis access and maintenance, aortic dissections and aneurysms involving the thoracic and abdominal aorta, venous disease, and wound care. He has extensive expertise in minimally invasive procedures such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA), endovenous laser treatment (EVLT), and Venaseal for the treatment of venous insufficiency and varicose veins.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Kumar has research interests revolving around clinical aspects of Vascular Pathology, including leading the first multi-centre vascular study in the Middle East, known as The ABC in PVD study. Dr Kumar is also a prolific author, with his book Handbook of Endovascular Interventions being one of the most downloaded book chapters from Springer.
