Dr Yi Cheng

Dr Yi Cheng is a highly esteemed Cardiothoracic Surgeon based in Melbourne. Dr Cheng holds the title of Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Dr Cheng pursued their medical education at the University of Melbourne, where they earned their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. They further honed their skills through rigorous training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, The Alfred Hospital, Monash Health, and Austin Hospital.

Driven by a passion for advancing the field, Dr Cheng undertook a PhD at Monash University. Their research focused on Activin A, expression and potential source in cardiopulmonary bypass and myocardial ischaemia reperfusion injury, conducted under the guidance of Professor Julian Smith, Dr David Phillips, and Associate Professor Mark Hedger. To further specialise, they completed a two-year Fellowship in Robotic Cardiac Surgery and TAVR at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia.
