Dr Trevor Leong

Dr Trevor Leong is a highly respected Consultant Radiation Oncologist who specialises in the management and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. With a patient-centred approach, he is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals navigating complex cancer diagnoses. His clinical focus encompasses a wide range of gastrointestinal malignancies, including oesophageal, gastric, pancreatic, and colorectal cancers, as well as anal cancer. Dr Leong is committed to utilising advanced radiotherapy techniques and multidisciplinary treatment strategies to optimise patient outcomes and support his patients throughout their treatment journey.

Dr Leong obtained his medical degree from the University of Melbourne and went on to complete his specialist training in radiation oncology in 1997. Demonstrating a strong commitment to academic excellence and clinical research, he later completed a laboratory-based Doctorate at the University of Melbourne in 2003. He holds professional memberships and senior leadership positions with several prestigious organisations, including serving as a Board Director for both the Australasian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGITG) and the Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG), where he has also served as Chair of the Scientific Committee. Additionally, he is actively involved with the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the International Gastric Cancer Association (IGCA).

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Leong is an active Clinician Researcher who is internationally recognised for his contributions to oncology research. He is heavily involved in both translational and clinical research programmes, serving as a Principal Investigator on numerous clinical trials aimed at improving cancer therapies. His research particularly focuses on the integration of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery to enhance cure rates for patients with gastric and other gastrointestinal cancers. Through his ongoing dedication to clinical trials and research, Dr Leong helps to bring the latest scientific advancements directly to patient care.
