Mr. Sunil Jassal specialises in Breast Cancer and General Surgery, with a focus on diagnostic and therapeutic breast care and a range of general surgical conditions.

Sunny obtained his medical degree from The University of Melbourne and underwent surgical training at Austin Health. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005 before undertaking post fellowship training in advanced General Surgery at Dandenong Hospital and then Breast and Oncological Surgery at Royal Perth Hospital.

Sunny worked as a Consultant in Breast and General Surgery at Royal Perth and Fremantle Hospitals before establishing practice back in Melbourne.

A founding member of BreastSurgANZ, the leading group of surgeons devoted to addressing breast disease in Australia and New Zealand, Sunny remains closely tied to the Australasian Society for Breast Disease (ASBD) and the Australian and New Zealand Breast Cancer Trial Group (ANZBCTG). He has also contributed at both national and international surgical and oncological conferences. A notable achievement is his co-authorship of the acclaimed work, “Breast Cancer. The Facts” (Oxford University Press, Second Edition, 2019).

  • Orchestrating multidisciplinary plans for breast cancer patients in a highly efficient, consultative and compassionate manner, whilst subscribing to international best practice guidelines
  • Employing oncoplastic technique in breast cancer surgery to reduce mastectomy rate safely, whilst optimising aesthetic outcome
  • Pioneering reduced lymph node surgery, whilst mitigating associated risks
  • Navigating high-risk patient scenarios, devising surveillance strategies and also risk-reducing surgical interventions, when appropriate 
  • Providing in-rooms breast ultrasound and guided biopsies
  • Proficiency and great experience in 'Keyhole' inguinal hernia repair
  • Adroit management of acute and elective surgical conditions through laparoscopy
