About Mr Simon Banting

Mr Simon Banting is an experienced general surgeon with subspecialist expertise in hepatobiliary and upper gastrointestinal surgery. He is the Director of Hepatobiliary Surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, where he also leads the Department of Surgery and oversees the hepatobiliary & upper gastrointestinal surgical unit.

Mr Banting’s connection with St Vincent’s spans his entire medical career, beginning as a medical student before progressing through internship, residency, and specialist training. Further advanced training in Scotland, in both Dundee and Edinburgh, broadened his expertise to include laparoscopic surgery and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

Mr Banting is very good at what he does. Only complaint is we travelled a fair distance to see him and he did not turn up. Waited quite a while before his receptionist notified me

It was a telehealth appt. The first thing Dr Banting said was: I don’t know why I’m talking to you. No hello, now how are you, nothing. Call lasted 2 minutes, if that, and I was invoiced $260

I last saw him at Sale hospital. It is so much easier and appreciate the fact that he was able to see me there. I feel very fortunate to have had him care for me.
