Dr Sundar Veerappan

Dr Sundar Veerappan is a highly dedicated and reassuring Paediatrician and Paediatric Cardiologist who specialises in caring for children, adolescents, and adults with congenital and acquired heart conditions. With a patient-centred and holistic approach, he is committed to delivering exceptional care to young patients and their families. He focuses on providing clear communication and support, ensuring that parents and carers are fully informed and comfortable throughout their child's medical journey.

Dr Veerappan completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Melbourne, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2009. He then undertook general Paediatric training across Melbourne and Sydney, followed by extensive specialist training in Paediatric Cardiology in Sydney and Queensland. To further refine his expertise, he completed post-fellowship training in Adult Congenital Heart Disease, maternal cardiology, and advanced cross-sectional cardiac imaging (including Cardiac MRI and CT) at leading specialist centres in the United Kingdom. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Paediatric Cardiology in 2019 and is an active member of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ), having been awarded a prestigious CSANZ travelling fellowship.

Having worked as a Consultant in Paediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiology, Dr Veerappan provides comprehensive evaluations for children presenting with suspected cardiac symptoms, such as heart murmurs, chest pain, palpitations, and syncope. He also manages complex inherited or acquired congenital cardiac conditions and offers ongoing care for adults with congenital heart disease. To ensure the highest level of diagnostic accuracy, he performs his own echocardiograms. Dr Veerappan is passionate about medical education and regularly contributes to research, having co-authored multiple articles in international medical journals and presented his findings at global conferences.
