Dr Sujitha Thavapalachandran

Dr Sujitha Thavapalachandran is a highly skilled and dedicated Consultant Cardiologist and Interventional Cardiologist who provides comprehensive cardiac care. With a patient-centred approach, she specialises in adult general Cardiology and interventional procedures, focusing on helping patients manage and improve their cardiovascular health. Her clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of cardiac conditions, with a particular emphasis on cardiac risk reduction, heart failure management, and advanced interventional treatments.

As an Interventional Cardiologist, Dr Thavapalachandran possesses specialised expertise in performing coronary angioplasty and stenting to treat coronary artery disease. She is deeply committed to delivering reassuring, evidence-based care, ensuring that each patient receives a personalised treatment plan tailored to their unique needs. Beyond interventional procedures, her clinical interests extend to the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease, helping patients identify and mitigate risk factors before serious complications arise.

Dr Thavapalachandran completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2008. She undertook her advanced specialist training as a Cardiologist at a major teaching hospital in New South Wales, achieving admission as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2015. Driven by a passion for clinical innovation, she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by the University of Sydney for her research into novel therapies for repairing damaged heart tissue following a heart attack. She further refined her skills by completing a prestigious clinical fellowship in coronary intervention at a world-renowned cardiac centre in Canada. She is also a Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (FCSANZ) and has received numerous research accolades, including the prestigious Ralph Reader Prize for Basic Science.
