Dr Sophie Armstrong

Dr Sophie Armstrong is a highly accomplished Sport and Exercise Physician who is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for patients of all ages and athletic abilities. With a clinical philosophy centred on keeping patients active and healthy, she utilises a collaborative, patient-centred approach to manage both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Armstrong has established a distinguished reputation within elite sports medicine. She serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Netball Australia and is the Head Doctor for both the Australian Netball Diamonds and Giants Netball. Her extensive experience with high-performance athletes also includes serving as a Medical Provider for the New South Wales Institute of Sport, where she conducts medical screenings for elite competitors, and contributing as a member of the Australian Medical Team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This deep involvement in professional sport informs her evidence-based approach to patient care, ensuring every individual receives elite-level medical attention.

Dr Armstrong obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom in 2006. She subsequently completed a Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Medicine at the University of Bath, also in the United Kingdom. To further her expertise, she undertook rigorous specialist training with the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians. Her academic background and extensive training underpin her expertise in advanced treatment modalities, including shockwave therapy and targeted exercise prescription for chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis.
