Dr Simon Willcock

Dr Simon Willcock is a highly respected and dedicated General Practitioner who is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care. Dr Willcock works collaboratively with his patients to deliver personalised healthcare solutions that address both immediate concerns and overall wellness.

Dr Willcock completed his medical training at the University of Sydney, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with First Class Honours in 1979. He subsequently obtained a Doctor of Philosophy from the same institution, with his doctoral research focusing on the health of doctors, stress management, and burnout. Additionally, he holds a Diploma of Obstetrics from the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Dr Willcock is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and maintains active professional memberships with several key medical bodies, including the Australian Medical Association.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Willcock has developed a broad range of clinical expertise. Having initially trained as a rural procedural General Practitioner, his foundational experience includes obstetrics and anaesthetics. His primary clinical interests encompass musculoskeletal medicine, with a particular focus on low back pain and whiplash, as well as men's health, aged care, and the early identification of dementia in the community. He is also actively involved in research and clinical practice relating to telehealth, palliative care, and systems change in medical service delivery.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Willcock is a prominent leader in the medical community. He has served in numerous high-level governance roles, including Deputy Chair of a regional health network, Chair of an aged care clinical governance committee, and Chair of a major medical indemnity group. He has also contributed his expertise to a doctors' health advisory service and the Australian Medical Association Council of General Practice. In recognition of his significant service to primary healthcare and tertiary education, Dr Willcock was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2023 King's Birthday Honours List.
