Simon Ward

Simon Ward is an accomplished actor, psychologist, and educator with over 14 years of clinical experience in psychology. He holds multiple qualifications, including a Master’s in Social Health and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Macquarie University, Sydney. His extensive training also includes an MA in Musical Theatre and an LRAM in voice teaching from the Royal Academy of Music, London, as well as a Licentiate in Musical Theatre from Trinity College London.

In his clinical work, Simon Ward specialises in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. He has experience in child and adolescent mental health within the New South Wales Health Department, as a consultant psychologist for The Australian Ballet, and in private practice. He focuses on mental health, behavioural management, anxiety, and performance-related wellbeing, offering support across a broad range of psychological and performing arts contexts.

Simon Ward combines his expertise in psychology with a professional background in the performing arts. He has performed in London’s West End, New York City, and across Australia in musicals, plays, opera, and cabaret. He frequently presents at conferences, including the Musical Theatre Educators Alliance (MTEA) Conference in New York, the Australian Psychological Society (APS) Conference, and the Estill Voice Symposium in London. He is also a regular lecturer and workshop facilitator on topics such as psychology in performing arts, anxiety and voice, and mental health in educational and creative settings.

His professional memberships reflect his diverse interests and contributions to both psychology and the arts. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts, a Member of the Australian Psychological Society, an Associate Fellow and Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, and a member of the British Voice Association, the Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Music Theatre Educators Alliance, and the Australian Society for Performing Arts Healthcare. He also holds memberships with Equity UK and MEAA Equity Australia and serves on the MEAA Equity Wellness Committee.
