His early career included working as a rural General Practitioner, where he gained valuable experience in administering anaesthetics, managing major trauma, and delivering babies. He also spent a significant period working in England, where he was instrumental in establishing a dedicated health service for refugees and asylum seekers.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Vanlint has contributed significantly to medical education and research. He spent many years balancing a teaching and research role at a prominent medical school with his ongoing clinical duties as a General Practitioner.
