Dr. Shalvin Prasad is a highly qualified and dedicated General Surgeon, Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon, and Bariatric Surgeon. Dr. Prasad earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Otago. He completed his advanced training in General Surgery in New Zealand, achieving admission as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2013. To further refine his expertise, he undertook extensive clinical fellowship training in upper gastrointestinal surgery, weight-loss surgery, and minimally invasive surgery, including advanced training at teaching hospitals affiliated with the University of Calgary in Canada. He also holds a Master of Surgery in Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Prasad is an active member of several prestigious professional bodies, including the Australia and New Zealand Gastric and Oesophageal Surgery Association, the Australia and New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society, and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders.

His areas of expertise include weight-loss and bariatric surgery, revisional weight-loss procedures, and the management of gastrointestinal tract cancers and benign upper gastrointestinal conditions. He is highly skilled in performing laparoscopic procedures, such as hernia repairs and splenectomies, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Additionally, Dr. Prasad has a keen clinical interest in reflux conditions and oesophageal motility, contributing actively to clinical research and the supervision of Interns and Junior Doctors.
