Dr Serge Geara

Dr Serge Geara is a highly dedicated Consultant Neurologist who provides comprehensive care for patients experiencing a wide range of neurological conditions. With a strong clinical focus on neurodegenerative disorders and neuroimmunology, Dr Geara is committed to integrating advanced clinical science with compassionate patient care. His clinical practice encompasses the diagnosis and management of complex conditions, helping patients navigate their treatment journeys with reassurance and professional expertise.

Dr Geara completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Neuroscience from the American University of Beirut, before earning his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney in 2015. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and has undertaken advanced fellowship training in motor neuron disease, neurodegenerative diseases, and mitochondrial diseases and genetics. To further his expertise, he pursued a Master of Philosophy in Translational Neuroimmunology, focusing on improving diagnostics and treatment strategies for inflammatory and demyelinating disorders. Dr Geara is also an active contributor to the medical community, serving as the Treasurer and a Board Member of the Australian Lebanese Medical Association (NSW Chapter).

In his clinical practice, Dr Geara has a particular interest in managing spasticity, Parkinson's disease, and motor neuron disease. His extensive research background in neuroimmunology allows him to offer specialised insights into conditions such as multiple sclerosis, autoimmune encephalitis, and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody-associated diseases. By actively participating in academic research and regularly attending international medical conferences, Dr Geara ensures his patients benefit from the latest evidence-based therapies and clinical advancements.
