Dr Klaer completed his medical training at the University of Queensland, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2014. During his studies, he gained valuable rural clinical experience in regional areas, including Bundaberg and Toowoomba. Following his graduation, he undertook extensive postgraduate training at major regional hospitals, which included dedicating an additional year to paediatric medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, reflecting his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of general practice.

As a versatile General Practitioner, Dr Klaer has developed a wide range of clinical interests. He is particularly passionate about children's health, including ADHD and developmental paediatrics for young people aged five to sixteen. His expertise also spans preventative care, chronic disease management, sports medicine, and sexual health. Additionally, Dr Klaer is highly skilled in performing various minor procedures, such as skin cancer checks, biopsies, excisions, joint injections, iron infusions, partial toenail resections, and the insertion and removal of contraceptive implants.
