Dr Ross Sharpe

Associate Professor Ross Sharpe is a highly accomplished Interventional Cardiologist and Endovascular Specialist who provides comprehensive cardiac care. He specialises in structural, coronary, and congenital heart disease, with a particular focus on the complex relationship between cardiovascular disorders and neurological conditions. Dedicated to utilising advanced cardiac techniques, Dr Sharpe is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to help individuals manage and improve their cardiovascular health.

Dr Sharpe initially studied engineering before transitioning to medicine, completing his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Notably, he was the first Cardiologist in Australia to be recognised by the Colleges of Physicians, Surgeons, and Radiologists as fully trained in Endovascular Interventions. He also holds an academic appointment as an Adjunct Associate Professor in a Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine.

Throughout his career, Dr Sharpe has been at the forefront of introducing innovative cardiac services and teaching the next generation of medical professionals. He regularly proctors junior Cardiologists in advanced interventional techniques and serves as an international proctor for left atrial appendage closures. His research interests focus heavily on the link between cardiovascular issues and neurological symptoms, particularly investigating the role of Patent Foramen Ovale in conditions such as stroke and migraine. He also contributes his expertise to international research initiatives and advisory boards to help advance the field of Cardiology.
