About
Professor Raphael Hau is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over two decades of experience in the treatment and management of local and overseas hip and knee problems. Professor Hau is well versed in Orthopaedic procedures such as Hip replacement surgery, ACL Reconstruction, Knee arthroscopy, and knee joint replacement. He sees private patients at the Epworth Eastern Hospital.
Professor Hau earned his primary medical qualification at Melbourne University, after which he gained experience in orthopaedics in internships and also while working in Hong Kong as an Orthopaedic Resident for 2 years. He then began to train on his Orthopaedic training program, which included renowned Melbourne hospitals including The Alfred and the Austin Hospitals. Professor Hau continued on and completed his surgical training, and also gained a fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He also undertook a Trauma fellowship at the Austin and Repatriation Medical Centre, and also a knee surgery fellowship at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Southmead Hospital in Bristol, UK. This fellowship was followed by further sub-specialty training in Canada, where he gained knowledge and expertise in complex knee and hip replacements, in addition to revision techniques.
Since his Consultant appointment, Professor Hau has opened his own practice at Epworth Eastern Hospital. combined his local and overseas experience to provide his patients with a tailored and personalised approach, allowing him to find the best treatment suited to their needs.
