Dr Atkinson completed his medical education at the University of Melbourne, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He is a vocationally registered General Practitioner and holds a Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Following his university studies, he undertook extensive clinical training across several major metropolitan hospitals in Victoria, gaining valuable experience in paediatric care, women's health, and general medicine, before spending a significant portion of his career as a partner in a private group practice.
