Dr Allan completed his medical education at the University of Sydney, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1996. He went on to complete his postgraduate training and gain valuable clinical experience at major metropolitan and regional hospitals. In 1999, he achieved fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr Allan is also an active member of the Australian Medical Association, ensuring he remains aligned with the highest standards of medical practice.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Allan is deeply involved in medical education. He serves as a Clinical Senior Lecturer at a prominent university and acts as a GP Registrar Supervisor, mentoring and training the next generation of medical students and registrars. His clinical expertise spans several key areas, including men's health, geriatric medicine, and dermatology. He is also highly skilled in skin cancer medicine, performing detailed skin checks and offering specialised treatments such as Implanon insertion and removal.
