Dr McBride completed her medical training at the University of Queensland, where she obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1997. Demonstrating a strong commitment to academic excellence and public health, she also undertook postgraduate studies in population health and epidemiology. In recognition of her advanced training and expertise in primary care, she was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2015.

In her clinical practice, Dr McBride specialises in all areas of general medicine, with a particular interest in women's health as well as infant and child health.
