Dr Nigel Collings

Dr Nigel Collings is a dedicated Child Psychiatrist who specialises in supporting the mental health and development of young children. With a primary clinical focus on children under the age of twelve, he provides compassionate, evidence-based care to help families navigate complex emotional and behavioural challenges. Dr Collings is committed to delivering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and personalised treatment plans that support the overall well-being and development of his young patients.

In his clinical practice, Dr Collings addresses a wide range of conditions, with a particular interest in mood difficulties and developmental disorders. He is highly experienced in managing Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), behavioural disorders, and trauma and attachment disorders. Believing in a holistic and collaborative approach, he works closely with families and multidisciplinary teams to implement tailored interventions. His treatment modalities include psychotherapy, family interventions, and careful medication management when required, ensuring each child receives the most appropriate care for their unique needs.

Dr Collings completed his medical training in Queensland and has built a distinguished career in public mental health, having previously served as the Director of Child and Youth Mental Health Services on the Gold Coast. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), a Diploma in Psychological Medicine (DPM), and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). Committed to advancing the field of mental health, he has been involved in clinical teaching at Bond University and Griffith University, and has contributed to numerous advisory committees. Dr Collings is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Australian Medical Association, the Gold Coast Medical Association, the Australian Infant, Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Association, the Mental Health Association (Qld), and the Asperger's Syndrome Support Network (QLD).
