Dr Niall Jefferson

Dr Niall Jefferson is a highly qualified and dedicated Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon and Otolaryngologist who provides comprehensive care for both adult and paediatric patients in Jesmond, New South Wales. With a deep commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centred care, he specialises in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions affecting the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. Dr Jefferson is particularly passionate about paediatric care, working closely with families to deliver reassuring, high-quality medical and surgical outcomes.

His clinical practice encompasses a broad spectrum of ENT conditions, with a particular interest in paediatric airway and voice disorders. Dr Jefferson is highly skilled in complex airway surgery, laryngotracheal reconstruction, and managing congenital or acquired anomalies of the voice and airway. Additionally, he provides expert treatment for common and complex conditions such as snoring and sleep apnoea in both adults and children, chronic hearing loss, paediatric neck masses, chronic sinus disease, glue ear, and tonsil issues. His approach combines advanced surgical techniques with a compassionate, patient-focused philosophy.

Dr Jefferson completed his medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland, before returning to Australia to undertake specialist training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery across New South Wales. He obtained his Fellowship in ENT Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2014. To further refine his expertise, he completed a prestigious post-graduate Fellowship in Paediatric Otolaryngology and adult and paediatric voice and airway reconstruction at a leading children's medical centre in Ohio, USA. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. He is also a Member of the Australian Medical Association and a founding member of the Australian Otolaryngology Historical Society.
