Dr Naveen Thomas

Dr Naveen Thomas is a highly regarded Consultant Psychiatrist who is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centred care. He possesses a deep understanding of various mental health conditions and utilises evidence-based approaches to diagnosis, management, and therapy. With a strong focus on achieving optimal outcomes for his patients, Dr Thomas values open communication and empowers individuals to actively participate in their own treatment plans. He chose Psychiatry as his speciality due to his genuine passion for the holistic care of individuals facing mental health challenges, earning a reputation as a trusted and empathetic practitioner.

His clinical interests encompass the evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological management of psychiatric disorders. Dr Thomas has extensive experience in treating a wide range of conditions, with a particular focus on depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychotic disorders, and the psychiatric manifestations of systemic illnesses. Additionally, he has significant expertise in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), having previously led training programmes focusing on teaching ECT techniques and neurological examination skills.

Dr Thomas completed his medical training with a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He went on to obtain a Diploma in Psychiatric Medicine (DPM), a Doctor of Medicine (MD), and became a Diplomate of the National Board in India (DNB). Committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice, he is a Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). Throughout his career, he has held prominent leadership roles, including serving as a Clinical Services Director and ECT Director within public and private mental health services.
