Dr Navaneethan completed his primary medical training at the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1992. He went on to obtain a Master of Surgery in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, followed by postgraduate training across the United Kingdom, Australia, and Spain. His extensive academic achievements include a Diploma of Women's Health from the Royal College of Physicians, Ireland, a Master of Science in Minimally Invasive Surgery from the University of Adelaide, and a Master's in Foetal Medicine from Barcelona, Spain. He achieved qualification as a Specialist and Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the United Kingdom in 2001, and he is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
