Dr Nathan Pavey

Dr Nathan Pavey is a highly qualified Neurologist and Clinical Neurophysiologist who provides comprehensive care for patients experiencing a wide range of neurological conditions. Based in Burwood, Australia, he has a particular clinical interest in the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders. In addition to his general Neurology practice, Dr Pavey possesses specialised expertise in administering injectable therapies for complex neurological conditions, including chronic migraine, hyperhidrosis, spasticity, and dystonia. His patient-centred approach focuses on delivering precise diagnoses and tailored management plans to improve quality of life.

Dr Pavey completed his initial Physician training in Newcastle before undertaking specialist Neurology training in Gosford and Sydney. He subsequently completed advanced subspecialty training in neurophysiology, electromyography (EMG), neuromuscular disorders, and neuroimmunology. Dr Pavey is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Committed to advancing his field, he also earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from a leading Australian university, where his doctoral research focused on investigating brain and nerve dysfunction in motor neurone disease using transcranial magnetic stimulation and other innovative neurophysiological techniques.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr Pavey is an active Academic Researcher and Educator. He holds an academic appointment as a Senior Lecturer, contributing significantly to the education and training of medical students and future Specialist Trainees. He is also a member of the Advanced Training Committee in Neurology for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, helping to shape and oversee the training pathways for future Neurologists in Australia. His ongoing research efforts, particularly in motor neurone disease and neurodegenerative conditions, ensure that his clinical practice remains at the forefront of modern neurological science.
