Dr Muhammad Riaz

Dr Muhammad Riaz is a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive mental health care. He specialises in general adult psychiatry, offering compassionate and evidence-based treatment for individuals experiencing a wide range of psychological conditions. His clinical practice focuses on supporting patients through their recovery journeys, ensuring they receive personalised care tailored to their unique needs.

Dr Riaz completed his Master of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne and holds a Master of Public Health, with a major in Occupational Health and Safety, from Monash University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), having achieved a formal sub-speciality in Addiction Psychiatry. Throughout his medical career, he has held key leadership roles in both the public and private health sectors, and he actively contributes to the profession by coordinating psychiatry training programmes.

With a diverse range of clinical interests, Dr Riaz is highly skilled in managing complex mental health conditions. His areas of expertise include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), borderline personality disorder, and psychotic disorders. Additionally, he has a dedicated interest in addiction psychiatry, providing assessments and facilitating inpatient detoxification from alcohol and illicit substances. He also manages chronic pain and mental health disorders that intersect with general medicine, particularly where there is an overlay of prescribed medication dependency.
