Dr Michael Rice

Dr Michael Rice is a highly dedicated General Practitioner and Rural Generalist who has committed his career to providing comprehensive, whole-of-life care to patients in rural communities. With a deep passion for family medicine, Dr Rice delivers reassuring and professional healthcare across multiple generations. His clinical approach is centred on understanding the unique needs of each patient, ensuring they receive personalised and continuous care.

Throughout his career, Dr Rice has developed a broad scope of clinical expertise to meet the diverse needs of his patients. He has a particular interest in women's health, antenatal care, and the care of mothers and babies. Additionally, he is highly skilled in dermatology and skin cancer surgery, providing vital skin checks and minor surgical procedures. His extensive clinical focus also encompasses palliative care, residential aged care, and accident and emergency medicine, reflecting his versatile capabilities as a rural Medical Practitioner.

Dr Rice obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland. Committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence, he completed a Diploma with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He holds Fellowships with both the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Rice is a Senior Lecturer in medicine, a dedicated GP Supervisor, and has served in leadership roles for prominent rural health organisations, including serving as President of the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland and Chair of the Rural Doctors Foundation.
