Dr Michael Mond

Dr. Michael Mond is an Endocrinologist dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of endocrine disorders. Dr. Mond's journey in medicine began at Monash University, where he graduated with Honors in 2001. He furthered his specialisation in Endocrinology at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, Victoria, shaping his expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide spectrum of endocrine conditions.

Dr. Mond's passion for research led him to pursue a PhD at Prince Henry’s Institute of Medical Research (now Hudson Institute), focusing on genetic and molecular changes in thyroid tumours. His groundbreaking work resulted in the development of an Australia-first comprehensive panel to screen thyroid tumours for genetic mutations, earning him the prestigious Bryan Hudson Clinical Endocrinology Award in 2017.

Dr. Mond treats various endocrine disorders, including Diabetes Mellitus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal gland disorders. He has a particular interest in thyroid conditions, such as thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer.

Dr. Mond is a co-leader of the Multidisciplinary Thyroid Clinic at Monash Health and lead endocrinologist in the Thyroid Clinic at Eastern Health. He chairs multidisciplinary thyroid cancer meetings at both sites, facilitating collaboration among healthcare professionals to optimise patient care.

Furthermore, Dr. Mond's dedication to advancing knowledge in thyroid cancer is evident through his establishment of the Victorian Thyroid Cancer Interest Group. This platform brings together clinicians from various disciplines for biannual meetings, fostering discussions on emerging topics and best practices in thyroid cancer management.
