Dr Michael Jones

Dr Michael Jones is a highly dedicated Radiation Oncologist based in Hobart, Australia, who is committed to delivering personalised, high-quality care to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients. As a compassionate Specialist, he treats a broad range of solid tumours and haematological malignancies. Dr Jones has a particular clinical focus on the management of prostate, breast, lung, and brain cancers, as well as lymphoma and various gastrointestinal malignancies, including cancers of the oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, colon, rectum, and anal canal. He is also highly skilled in advanced treatment techniques, including stereotactic radiation therapy.

Dr Jones completed his undergraduate medical education at the Australian National University, where he attained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. He subsequently undertook specialist training in Radiation Oncology across New South Wales, achieving fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists in 2016. Committed to advancing his clinical expertise, he completed a clinical research fellowship in Toronto, Canada, focusing on prostate cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, and lymphoma. Dr Jones also holds a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, alongside a PhD in Medicine that investigated emerging imaging techniques in Radiation Oncology. He has completed specialised training and credentialling in advanced stereotactic radiation delivery systems.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Jones is an active contributor to medical education and oncology research. He holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor within a prominent Tasmanian medical school and serves as a Director of Training. Dr Jones is deeply involved in clinical trials and has been awarded several competitive research grants, with his work published in leading international peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the executive committee of the Faculty of Radiation Oncology Genito-Urinary Group and maintains active professional memberships with the Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group, the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology, and the Trans Tasman Radiation Oncology Group.
