Dr Michael Forrest

Dr Michael Forrest is a highly qualified Ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive eye care for both adult and paediatric patients. With a reassuring and patient-focused approach, he specialises in cataract surgery, strabismus surgery, and general ophthalmic care. Dr Forrest is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of clinical excellence, ensuring that each patient receives personalised treatment tailored to their unique visual needs.

Dr Forrest completed his medical degrees at the University of Queensland in 1994. During his undergraduate studies, he also undertook research for a Bachelor of Medical Science degree at the University of Bologna in Italy. He completed his specialist training in ophthalmology through a major eye and ear hospital in Melbourne and the Brisbane training programme. Following this, he completed advanced sub-specialty fellowship training in the United Kingdom, focusing on cataract, glaucoma, and strabismus surgery at a dedicated eye unit, as well as paediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, and paediatric neuro-ophthalmology at a world-renowned children's hospital in London.

Throughout his career, Dr Forrest has made significant contributions to the medical community. He has served as a Senior Lecturer and has held leadership roles, including Chairperson of a hospital eye department. He also pioneered a telemedicine screening programme for retinopathy of prematurity. Dr Forrest is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He also holds professional memberships with the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Association for Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
