Dr Michael Bassett

Dr Michael Bassett is a highly qualified Specialist Anaesthetist and Pain Medicine Specialist who is dedicated to improving the quality of life of his patients. He adopts a multi-disciplinary and holistic approach to patient care, focusing on providing individuals with the necessary treatments and tools to manage their pain effectively. By combining his expertise in anaesthesia with advanced pain management strategies, Dr Bassett aims to deliver comprehensive, patient-centred care that addresses both acute and chronic conditions.

Dr Bassett completed his medical education at Monash University, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honours in 2001. Committed to the highest standards of clinical practice, he undertook extensive postgraduate training to specialise in his chosen fields. He is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) and a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FFPMANZCA). These prestigious fellowships reflect his advanced training and expertise in both anaesthesia and specialised pain medicine.

In his clinical practice, Dr Bassett focuses on a wide range of interventional pain medicine techniques and therapies. He has a particular interest in neuromodulation, which includes spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, and peripheral nerve stimulation. His expertise also extends to managing complex conditions such as chronic spinal pain, persistent post-surgical pain, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, headaches, and pelvic pain. Through tailored management plans, Dr Bassett works closely with his patients to restore function and alleviate discomfort.
