Dr Melanie Rich

Dr Melanie Rich is a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care for adults. With a clinical focus on individuals aged 18 to 65, she is committed to helping patients navigate complex mental health challenges. Dr Rich recognises that achieving optimal mental health and well-being requires a holistic, multifaceted approach. She works collaboratively with her patients to develop personalised treatment plans that are tailored to their unique circumstances, life situations, and personal recovery goals.

Throughout her career, Dr Rich has developed a diverse range of clinical interests, with a particular focus on psychological trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). She is highly experienced in managing mood and anxiety disorders, as well as psychotic disorders. Additionally, Dr Rich has a strong interest in supporting the mental health of Military Veterans, serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) Members, and First Responders, including Police Officers, Firefighters, and Paramedics. Her practice also incorporates evidence-based lifestyle interventions, such as nutritional psychiatry, and she is skilled in providing detailed WorkCover reports and specialist opinions under Mental Health Care Plans.

Dr Rich completed her medical training with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery alongside a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours. She went on to obtain a Master of Psychiatry from the University of Melbourne. Dr Rich is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and is an Accredited Member of the RANZCP Faculty of Adult Psychiatry. Prior to transitioning into private practice, she gained extensive clinical experience working as a Consultant Psychiatrist within the Australian public mental health sector.
