Dr Matthew Brooks

Dr Matthew Brooks is a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiologist and Interventional Cardiologist who is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centred cardiovascular care. He specialises in general cardiology as well as advanced interventional procedures, focusing on the diagnosis, management, and treatment of complex heart conditions. With a reassuring and professional approach, Dr Brooks works closely with his patients to develop tailored treatment plans that support their long-term cardiovascular health and well-being.

Dr Brooks completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Melbourne, where he obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medical Science. He subsequently undertook specialist cardiology and interventional training at a major tertiary referral hospital in Melbourne. To further refine his expertise, he completed advanced post-fellowship training at renowned international cardiac centres in Scotland and Denmark, focusing on complex coronary interventions and structural heart disease. Dr Brooks is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

In his clinical practice, Dr Brooks possesses specialised expertise in complex percutaneous coronary interventions, including the management of chronic total occlusions, left main coronary artery disease, and rotational atherectomy. He is also highly proficient in structural heart disease interventions, such as transcatheter aortic valve implantation, transcatheter mitral and tricuspid edge-to-edge repair, left atrial appendage occlusion, and the closure of atrial septal defects and patent foramen ovale. His broad clinical interest ensures that patients receive state-of-the-art care for both common and complex cardiac conditions.
