Dr Mark Douglas

Dr Mark Douglas is a highly accomplished Infectious Diseases Physician and Molecular Virologist who is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. Dr Douglas completed his medical training at the University of Sydney, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Medical) with Honours in 1991, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours. He went on to achieve his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2000. Furthering his academic and scientific pursuits, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Sydney in 2005. He maintains active professional memberships with several prestigious organisations, including the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases, the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine, the European Association for the Study of the Liver, and the Australian Centre for Hepatitis Virology.

Throughout his career, Dr Douglas has held significant leadership and academic roles, contributing to the advancement of medical education and research. He has served as the Chair of the Viral Hepatitis Special Interest Group for the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases and has been actively involved in educating General Practitioners and the wider medical community. His clinical work is closely integrated with his research, which focuses on viral pathogenesis, antiviral drug resistance, and developing innovative strategies to treat chronic viral infections.
