Dr Mark Allen

Dr Mark Allen is a highly qualified Specialist Anaesthetist based in Brisbane, Australia. He has dedicated his career to providing safe, high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. With a clinical focus that spans both adult and paediatric care, Dr Allen specialises in delivering tailored anaesthesia for complex surgeries, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the perioperative period. His areas of clinical interest include paediatric anaesthesia for ear, nose, and throat (ENT) and dental procedures, as well as ophthalmic, neurosurgical, and plastic and reconstructive surgeries.

Dr Allen completed his medical education at the University of Queensland, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1980. He then pursued postgraduate training internationally, commencing his anaesthetic training in England and obtaining a Diploma of Anaesthesia from the Royal College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom in 1986. Upon returning to Australia, he completed his specialist anaesthetic training in Brisbane and undertook a provisional fellowship year in paediatric intensive care at a major paediatric hospital in Adelaide. He was awarded a Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 1993.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Allen is committed to medical education and the training of future healthcare professionals. He has served as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland since 2016, sharing his extensive knowledge with medical students. He has also previously held leadership roles, including serving as the Director of Anaesthesia at a regional general hospital. Dr Allen is an active member of the professional medical community, holding memberships with the Australian Society of Anaesthetists and maintaining his status as a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
