Dr Louise McDonnell

Dr Louise McDonnell is a dedicated and highly experienced General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. With a long-standing career serving the Blue Mountains community, she is committed to delivering high-quality healthcare tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Her clinical approach is characterised by a deep focus on preventative medicine and the long-term management of complex health conditions.

Throughout her clinical career, Dr McDonnell has developed a strong interest in Public Health, chronic disease management, and diabetes care. She is particularly passionate about exploring and implementing new models of care within General Practice to improve patient outcomes. In addition to her clinical work, she has contributed significantly to the medical community as a Senior Research Fellow at Western Sydney University, where she was involved in research regarding community-based cancer support services. She has also run several evidence-based journal clubs for local General Practitioners, demonstrating her commitment to staying at the forefront of clinical advancements.

Dr McDonnell holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Furthering her expertise in population health, she also completed a Master of Applied Epidemiology (MAE). Alongside her clinical and research pursuits, she is actively involved in medical education, dedicating her time to supervising and mentoring the next generation of General Practitioners as a Registrar Supervisor.
