Dr Louise Baker

Dr Louise Baker is a highly respected General Practitioner and GP Obstetrician who has dedicated her career to providing comprehensive healthcare to rural communities. With a deep passion for rural medicine, she delivers a broad range of primary care services, supporting patients through all stages of life, from newborns to the elderly. Her clinical practice is characterised by a compassionate, patient-centred approach, with a particular focus on family medicine, obstetrics, and preventative health.

Dr Baker completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with Honours at the University of New South Wales in 1986. Committed to continuous professional development, she later obtained a Master of Clinical Education in 2010. She holds several postgraduate qualifications, including a Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a Diploma in Child Health. Dr Baker is a Fellow of both the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. Her outstanding contributions to rural and remote medicine have been recognised with numerous prestigious accolades, including the Medal of the Order of Australia, the Peter Graham 'Cohuna' Award, and being named the NSW Regional Woman of the Year.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Baker is deeply involved in medical education and leadership. She serves as a Senior Lecturer and Academic Coordinator, mentoring and training the next generation of rural doctors and medical students. Her clinical interests are diverse, encompassing antenatal and postnatal care, women's health, contraception management, and Aboriginal health. Through her various leadership roles, including serving as a Statewide Director of Training and participating on regional medical committees, she continues to advocate for high-quality healthcare delivery and the advancement of rural generalist medicine.
