Dr Lima Wetherell is an advanced laparoscopic surgeon with a special interest in endometriosis, pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding and fibroids. She is a Specialist Gynaecologist who has completed an additional two year AGES (Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery) Fellowship at Monash Health focusing on minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. This is the highest level of surgical expertise that can be formally obtained in Australia for excisional endometriosis surgery and is a Nationally recognised formal qualification. She is a specialist in excisional endometriosis surgery, including bowel endometriosis, for which she works closely with a colorectal surgeon to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Dr Lima also has a special interest in uterine fibroids, with surgical management via hysteroscopic resection or laparoscopic myomectomy. She focuses on meticulous surgical technique and has a high level of attention to detail. Dr Lima is a caring and competent clinician in all aspects of advanced pelvic surgery and gynaecology. She is known for her warm and empathic bedside manner, providing specialist care for women in her rooms at Epworth Freemasons Victoria Parade.   

Dr Lima completed her medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2012. Following this she went on to complete her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, working at the Royal Women’s Hospital for 7 years and obtaining her FRANZCOG. She then pursued further training involving the completion an AGES Fellowship at Monash Health. In her current role she holds a public appointment at Monash Health Endosurgical Department and has private consulting rooms at Epworth Freemasons in East Melbourne.
