Dr Lesley Cotterell

Dr Lesley Cotterell is a highly dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care. With a broad clinical background spanning multiple regions across Australia, including Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle, and Darwin, she has accumulated extensive expertise in diverse healthcare settings. Dr Cotterell believes in a holistic approach to medicine, focusing on preventative care, early intervention, and fostering strong, collaborative relationships with her patients to support their long-term health and wellbeing.

Throughout her career, Dr Cotterell has developed a diverse range of clinical interests, with a particular focus on family medicine, women's health, and paediatrics. She is deeply passionate about supporting families through all stages of life and actively participates in antenatal shared care programmes. Her expertise also encompasses family planning, sexual health, and mental health. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Cotterell is dedicated to medical education, regularly teaching and mentoring medical students and General Practice Registrars to help shape the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Dr Cotterell obtained her primary medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1987. Committed to continuous professional development, she has earned several postgraduate qualifications to enhance her clinical practice. These include a Family Planning Certificate, during which she also served as a Clinician and Lecturer in family planning. She holds a Diploma of Child Health from the University of Sydney, a Masters of Psychological Medicine from the University of New South Wales, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
