Dr Lawrence Malisano

Dr Lawrence Malisano is a highly regarded Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Brisbane, Australia. He specialises in adult arthroscopic reconstructive knee surgery, hip replacement surgery, and robotically assisted replacement surgery of the knee. With a patient-centred approach, Dr Malisano is dedicated to treating a wide range of hip and knee conditions, including soft tissue knee injuries, to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes and regain their mobility.

Dr Malisano completed his primary medical degree, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), at the University of Queensland. Following his postgraduate training in Queensland, he was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 1988. To further refine his expertise, he undertook extensive post-Fellowship training internationally. This included appointments in hip and knee arthroplasty in London, United Kingdom; a Trauma Fellowship in Bochum, Germany; and a Reconstruction and Trauma Fellowship in Toronto, Canada.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Malisano is deeply committed to medical education, research, and professional leadership. He has served as the President of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and as the Vice President of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He holds an academic role with the University of Queensland Medical School and regularly serves as faculty on regional, national, and international courses for Orthopaedic Surgeons. His contributions to the field also extend to clinical research and implant development.

Dr Malisano is a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a foundation member of the Arthroplasty Society of Australia and holds active memberships in several prestigious organisations, including the Australian Orthopaedic Trauma Association, the Australian Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Australian Medical Association. He is also a life member of the Queensland branch of Sports Medicine Australia.
