Dr Lauren Galt

Dr Lauren Galt is a highly dedicated Consultant Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Physician who provides comprehensive care for patients experiencing a wide range of thoracic and sleep-related disorders. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she focuses on diagnosing and managing complex conditions affecting the lungs and breathing. Her clinical expertise spans general respiratory issues, such as difficult asthma, bronchiectasis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), as well as unexplained breathlessness and thoracic oncology.

Dr Galt commenced her medical journey by completing an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science at the University of Melbourne. She then relocated to pursue her medical training, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 2010. She undertook her specialist training in thoracic medicine at major tertiary hospitals, followed by a dedicated fellowship in sleep medicine. Dr Galt is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, reflecting her commitment to maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice.

In addition to her general respiratory practice, Dr Galt has advanced training in interventional bronchoscopy, including radial and convex endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and cryobiopsy. She is highly skilled in the assessment and management of pleural disease, as well as complex sleep disorders such as sleep apnoea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and respiratory failure associated with neuromuscular disease.
