Dr Kirsten Stuart

Dr Kirsten Stuart is a highly regarded Consultant Radiation Oncologist who specialises in the management of breast cancer. Known for her compassionate and patient-centred approach, she is dedicated to guiding individuals through their cancer treatment journeys with the highest standard of care. Dr Stuart works collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to ensure that each patient receives a personalised, comprehensive treatment plan tailored to their unique clinical needs.

Her clinical focus is particularly centred on the latest advancements in breast radiation therapy. Dr Stuart is highly skilled in utilising sophisticated techniques designed to improve treatment accuracy and minimise side effects. These include inverse planning intensity modulated radiation therapy, volumetric modulated arc therapy, and cone beam CT for precise evaluation. She is also experienced in employing hypofractionation and 4D planning, such as deep inspiration breath-hold techniques, which help protect surrounding healthy tissue during treatment.

Dr Stuart obtained her medical degree, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, alongside a Bachelor of Science (Medicine), from the University of New South Wales. She completed her specialist training in Radiation Oncology and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. Furthering her academic expertise, she completed a PhD focused on the management of ductal carcinoma in situ and early breast cancer through the University of Sydney in 2014. Dr Stuart is an active member of several prominent professional bodies, including the Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group, the Australasian Society for Breast Disease, the Breast Cancer Trials group, and the Oncoplastic Breast Consortium. She also serves on the executive committee of the Australasian Breast Interest Group.
