Dr Kieran McCarthy is a dedicated General Practitioner who brings a wealth of diverse clinical experience to his practice. With a patient-centred approach at the heart of his care, Dr McCarthy focuses on empowering his patients through education, helping them to actively participate in their own health journeys. He recognises the vital importance of building trust and rapport, particularly when supporting individuals who are navigating complex physical and psychological health challenges.

Before transitioning into civilian general practice, Dr McCarthy served as a Medical Officer in the Australian Army. During his military service, which included operational deployments overseas, he was responsible for the medical management and rehabilitation of wounded soldiers. This profound experience fostered his passionate commitment to supporting veterans as they transition into civilian life. His clinical focus heavily emphasises veteran healthcare, pain management, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, helping patients rebuild resilience and improve their overall quality of life.

Dr McCarthy graduated with his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 2006 and went on to complete his General Practice Fellowship in 2012. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence, he holds professional memberships with several prestigious organisations, including the Wilderness Medical Society, the Australian Society of Aviation Medicine, the South Pacific Underwater Medical Society, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

In addition to general family medicine, Dr McCarthy has extensive expertise in sports, lifestyle, and occupational medicine. He is a qualified Dive Doctor and serves as a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Designated Aviation Medical Examiner. His versatile skill set also extends to working as an Orthopaedic Surgical Assistant, allowing him to provide comprehensive care across a broad spectrum of medical needs.
