Dr Kate Rankin

Dr Kate Rankin is a highly qualified Consultant Cardiologist who provides comprehensive cardiac care to patients in Geelong and the surrounding regions. With a dedicated focus on patient-centred care, she specialises in all aspects of adult clinical cardiology. Her clinical practice is particularly centred on the management of acute and chronic heart failure, as well as the diagnostic application of advanced echocardiography to ensure precise and reassuring patient outcomes.

Dr Rankin graduated with Honours from Monash University in 2008, obtaining her medical degree. She completed her specialist training in Cardiology at major tertiary hospitals in Geelong and Melbourne. To further refine her expertise, she undertook two prestigious clinical fellowships in Canada, focusing on echocardiography, advanced heart failure, and cardiac transplantation. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), reflecting her commitment to maintaining the highest standards of medical practice.

In addition to general cardiology, Dr Rankin possesses dual sub-speciality training in echocardiography and advanced heart failure. Her clinical interests extend to the specialised fields of cardio-oncology and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She is highly proficient in performing and interpreting complex echocardiography, including stress and transoesophageal echocardiography, and has extensive experience in managing patients requiring mechanical circulatory support.
