Are you Dr Kartik Bhatia?
Dr. Kartik Bhatia is a highly respected interventional neuroradiologist and a staff specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital. With extensive experience treating both children and adults, Dr. Bhatia is globally recognised for his contributions to paediatric neuro-intervention. He has presented pioneering research on paediatric stroke treatment at the prestigious International Stroke Conference.
Dr. Bhatia completed his medical degree at the University of Adelaide in 2006 and subsequently moved to Sydney, where he worked at St Vincent’s Hospital. He gained two years of neurosurgical experience and completed a Master of Surgery at the University of Sydney, followed by five years of radiology training at St Vincent’s, during which he also earned a PhD in advanced neuroimaging and neuroanatomy. His radiology training culminated with recognition by the Conjoint Committee for Interventional Neuroradiology (CCINR) in 2018.
Dr. Bhatia pursued further specialisation through fellowships in interventional radiology and interventional neuroradiology across Royal Prince Alfred and Royal North Shore Hospitals. He then undertook a capstone fellowship at the world-renowned Toronto Western Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children in Canada. Here, he trained under leading experts in INR and acquired advanced skills in cutting-edge treatments, including the use of flow diverters, stent-assisted coiling, and robot-assisted techniques for brain aneurysms, AVMs, and complex vascular conditions.
In Toronto, Dr. Bhatia was also trained in paediatric INR, where he contributed to the development of innovative treatments for conditions such as vein of Galen malformations and intra-arterial chemotherapy for retinoblastoma. He was involved in landmark procedures, including the first brain angiograms for children using the wrist artery in Canada.
Dr. Bhatia continues to be a leader in his field, advancing both clinical practice and research in neuro-intervention.
