Dr Julie Doherty

Dr Julie Doherty is a dedicated and highly accomplished General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. Originally from the north of England, she relocated to Australia in 2003 and subsequently became an Australian citizen. Dr Doherty transitioned to medicine later in life after a successful career in finance in the United Kingdom. Her clinical approach is deeply rooted in promoting healthy living and preventative medicine, encouraging her patients to achieve optimal health and live their lives to the fullest.

In addition to her work in community general practice, Dr Doherty has a distinguished career as a Medical Officer within the Australian Defence Force. She has served as a Senior Medical Officer, where she led critical projects focused on pre-hospital blood capabilities, trauma care, and blood-based resuscitation. Her outstanding clinical leadership and commitment to improving training and preparedness for clinicians were formally recognised when she was awarded the Conspicuous Service Medal in the King's Birthday Honours List.

Dr Doherty completed her medical education at Griffith University, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine in 2015. Committed to maintaining the highest standards of primary care, she achieved Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2021. Her diverse background, combining corporate experience, military medical leadership, and community general practice, allows her to offer a unique and reassuring perspective to the patients under her care.
